Since You Came

Since You Came  © Michael Tomlinson

No matter where you are in the dance of life
No matter what you dream or what you leave behind
You laid your footprints here, along the timeless sea
We have not been the same since you came
And we won’t ever be

Sometimes a wayward wind rolls in and gets hold of me
Steals away the things that used to be
The way the leaves come down from autumn trees
You are in these golden parts of me, blowing wild and free
We have not been the same since you came
And we won’t ever be

Outside in the wind I feel everything
And breathe in again - full of you
Then love starts to rise and fill up my eyes
With all the ways I’m thankful for you

There is a place inside your heart words cannot be heard
For they cannot survive the healing light
They scatter out and fly away like birds
This is where I hold your heart to mine and I place my faith
That you and I’ll meet again, we don’t know when
But we do know the way

Outside in the wind I feel everything
And breathe in again, full of you
Then love starts to rise and fill up my eyes
With all the ways I’m thankful for you

You ride along on distant thunder
I see you flashing light in the night
You show me that we live in a world of wonder
And to love it all with all my might

No matter where you are in the dance of life
No matter what you dream or what you leave behind
You laid your footprints here, along the boundless sea
We have not been the same since you came
And we won’t ever be
I have not been the same since you came
And I won’t ever be
