All I want to do is sit by my window
Watch the last few hours fade from the year
All the love of all my friends
In my mind alive again
Hold them like a prayer and bless everyone
Older than the land around me
Further out than the eye can see
Memories surround me in the cold
Let the new year start without me
Leave me here, I’m letting go
Slowly with the melting of the snow
All around the world the chapels are ringing
To call another year to a close in a song
How to savor what has been
Lose the breath and go again
Learn another thing I knew all along
Surely now the days grow longer
Aching for a ray of sun
Soon another season has begun
I used to live for autumn splendor
Yearning for a young man’s dream
Now I wait for blossoms in the spring
Oh will you whisper the secret of letting go?
Melt the fear in the heart of me
Till I’ve risen like a rainbow
To glisten on the world below
Falling to the deep snow , so peacefully
To wait until the springtime
Thawing in the real sunshine
Spilling down the river to the sea
Older than the land around me
Further out than the eye can see
Memories of you when I am old
If this dream was self-fulfilling
Still, I wonder how we knew
I’m grateful for the time I had with you
All I want to do is sit by my window
